Gauntt Hudgins is not your typical 7th grader. He races bandolero cars.
Gauntt, pronounced Gant, is a 12 year old honor student who attends Oglethorpe Charter School in Savannah, Ga. When he's not working towards his Eagle Scout Badge, singing in the church choir, avidly reading, or leading his school team in a robotics competition - you'll find him racing cars.
Currently, he is working with his fellow students and FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) members at Oglethorpe Charter School to raise funds and awareness for the Greenbriar Children's Center. This community service project is to help children that may be homeless, abused, neglected, or suffering from other traumatic conditions.
The mission of Greenbriar Children's Center is to promote the healthy development of children and the strengthening of families. They provide services that include an emergency shelter, runaway/homeless services, residential care, independent living, family preservation, early childhood education & care, and Project Safe Place.
This racing season, Gauntt will be racing in honor of the Greenbriar Children's Center and Oglethorpe Charter School FBLA during the "Winter Flurries" Series at Atlanta Motor Speedway, "Winter Nationals" at Orlando Speed World, "March Madness" at Concord Speedway located outside of Charlotte, N.C. and "Battle of the Big Top III" at Texas Motor Speedway.
Gauntt, and his classmates are committed to the welfare of children that need a helping hand.
Today Gauntt's car hood is covered in signatures from students at Oglethorpe Charter School that made a $5.00 donation. Other funds are raised through a GoFundMe account.
So far the students have raised over $1,000 dollars with a goal of $5000 for Greenbrair Children's Center.
