The original national event for Legend Cars, the Legend Car Asphalt Nationals made its debut in 1992 on Charlotte Motor Speedway's fifth-mile. In 1992 a single championship was awarded and won by Scott Porter. In 1993, the single division was split into two; Pro and Semi-Pro. The Masters Division was added in 1994 and Young Lions in 2009. Future NASCAR champions first won Legend Car Asphalt Nationals championships before ascending up the the racing ladder. Charlotte Motor Speedway hosted the first nine editions, with Las Vegas Motor Speedway's 3/8-mile Bullring leading all tracks, hosting the event 10 times. Legend Car Asphalt Nationals is a required race for drivers to participate in if they are going for an asphalt national title in any of the four Legend Car divisions. For the second time in history, Dominion Raceway will host the 2024 and 33rd Legend Car Asphalt Nationals.
