This season’s Cook Out Summer Shootout has been no stranger to Mother Nature interrupting competition plans at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Tuesday’s racing with clouds above but still completed seven of the 10 scheduled feature races before having to put a hold on racing action in the middle of the Semi-Pro feature. The seven races that were contested, along with the Semi-Pro B Main, were full of action and wild moments. That was particuarly true with the Young Lions.

The Young Lions Division has been elbows out all summer long at the front of the field. Completing their race minutes before the weather ultimately won, it began with Spencer Bradshaw, who scored three previous victories in Rounds 1, 2 and 4, making a move for the lead during the Lap 4 restart, securing control into Turn 3 after Alex Pate led the opening laps. A quick yellow re-racked the field and the race resumed on Lap 5.

Bradshaw had a moment, sliding up the track exiting Turn 2. Colton Hale directed the nose of his Legend Car to the inside, but Bradshaw didn’t give up on the outside and walked away with the lead still in hand after powering through Turn 4. He led Hale and Ben Morabito for several laps single file until a spun car brought out the yellow flag. Those three have been the ones to beat in the Young Lions Divisions, as well as the only three to win through five rounds.

With 15 laps to go, Morabito maneuvered his Legend Car to the inside of Hale through the first two corners of a restart. Then began the slow reel in towards the bumper of Bradshaw. The pass was completed with eight laps to go. Morabito led the lap but Bradshaw crossed him over in Turn 1. Their dicing it up brought Hale and Brody Rhodes in to the mix as the quartet were nearly nose-to-trunk.

For several laps, Bradshaw was knocking on Morabito’s rear bumper, yo-yoing the distance between the two cars. Bradshaw said it was time to go with three laps left. He bumped and ran Morabito into Turn 3 and disaster nearly occurred as the duo crossed the line. When their wheels touched, Morabito should’ve crashed, but instead, made a miraculous save to keep from wrecking not only Bradshaw, but Hale and possibly Rhodes. Bradshaw took evasive action into the turf while Hale traveled high.

Bradshaw was still the leader and on the white flag, Hale did everything he could to get around him, but it wasn’t enough. Bradshaw crossed the line first, followed by Hale and Rhodes with Morabito have to settle for fourth.

Landon Thrasher has won several Booth34DieCast Fastest Qualifier awards during the Cook Out Summer Shootout, but has often had to fight his way to the lead thanks to the invert. Tuesday was no exception. Chase Spaudling did everything in his power to keep the blue and black 55 Bandolero of Thrasher in his rearview mirror. On Lap 14, Spaudling took the smallest of missteps exiting Turn 2, which allowed Thrasher to pounce. Thrasher retained the lead through a couple of yellow flags, ultimately winning his fifth Outlaws feature win in six starts.

Taking home two trophies on Tuesday was Brexton Busch. In all the Bandits features, Busch hasn’t been passed for the lead under green flags conditions often this summer. Each week Evan Johnson has been getting quicker and for a lap, took the lead from Busch after driving up and catching him. Determined, Busch wasn’t going to be defeated today and like Thrasher, took home win number five through six races.

In the Chargers A feature, Brexton Busch backed up his first Legend Car win on Monday with a second on Tuesday. He led all the way, but had a mirror full of Max Calles for the entirety of the 20-lap feature.

Jagger Parker had to hold off Cole Gudmestad during several restarts in order to capture his first victory in the Cook Out Summer Shootout during the Chargers B feature. Gudmestad gave him several fits out of the restart zone, and even got close a time or two under green, but Parker kept him at bay through the checkered flag.

When visiting from Canada, Josh Davenport has been a tough driver to beat in the Beginner Bandolero A features. He backed up his victory on Monday by winning on Tuesday. The race was called after halfway due to weather, and second place Brody Zacharias was likely disappointed after have a couple good runs to setup a pass for the lead.

Ava Boyd was passed on the last lap on Monday in the Beginner Bandolero B feature race. But on Tuesday, she sealed the deal to pick up her first career win at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the Round 6 Beginner Bandolero B feature.

The 2025 Cook Out Summer Shootout will resume on Tuesday, July 8 and will include the resumption of Round 6 and all of Round 7 feature racing. Replays of Tuesday’s feature races can be streamed on FloRacing.com. The remaining Dilling Pro, VP Racing Fuels Semi-Pro, and American Rebel Ale Masters Division features are rescheduled for Tuesday, July 8 to run before the start of Round 7 on-track activities, with a schedule to be announced at a later date.
