The 2025 INEX Championship Nationals season is upon us, and the first of four stops on the tour is at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Hosting the 28th INEX Bandolero Nationals, September 12-13, America’s Home for Racing has hosted the dedicated Bandolero event five times in the first 27 installments. This weekend, over 65 Bandoleros will be descend upon Concord, North Carolina and the birthplace of the Bandolero as two championship features and national championships are for the taking.
Most recently in 2023, Charlotte hosted Bandolero Nationals with history being made and an upset playing out. Alison Johnson and Ben Morabito battled tooth and nail in the Outlaws Championship Feature. With a late-race pass, Johnson found her way around Morabito, driving off to win. In doing so, she became the first female to win a Bandolero Nationals Championship Feature. The victory also helped her secure the 2023 INEX Bandolero Outlaws National Championship, making her the first female to win a unified Bandolero National Championship since its inception in 1999.
Wyatt Coffey entered as the championship points leader in the Bandits Division, but suffered an early spin, sending him to the rear of the 17-car field. The race was controlled by Lane Christensen after that moment, who went on to win the feature. The triumph helped lift Christensen to become that year’s INEX Bandolero Bandits National Champion and left Coffey unable to make up the lost points.
One year ago, Hawkeye Downs Speedway in Cedar Rapids, Iowa hosted Bandolero Nationals for the very first time, which was also the first ever INEX Championship National in the State of Iowa. Wyatt Coffey got his redemption by winning the Bandits Championship Feature, and TJ Moon won the Outlaws Championship Feature. Both secured perfect 2000-point seasons and national titles.
Entering this weekend, Landon Thrasher has 13 victories on flat quarter-mile ovals in 2025, and won the 2025 Cook Out Summer Shootout Outlaws Championship at Charlotte Motor Speedway in July. He will arrive this weekend with a perfect 1900 points to his name. A victory in Saturday’s championship feature, and he will have a perfect 2000-point season and leave the provisional national champion.
Carson Sherman, the 2025 EchoPark Speedway Thursday Thunder Outlaws Champion, trails Thrasher by 24 points. While there will still be racing left in the INEX points season after this weekend, if Sherman were to win on Saturday and Thrasher finished 12th or worse, Sherman would place himself at the top of the points.
On the Bandits Division side of the garage, Brexton Busch is just six points shy of a perfect season entering the weekend, with 1894 points to his name. He won seven of the 10 Cook Out Summer Shootout features this summer on his way to be the Bandits Champion of the series. He’ll be looking for an eighth win at America’s Home for Racing to help position himself as the provisional national champion.
But only six points behind Busch is James Behnke, this year’s EchoPark Speedway Thursday Thunder Bandits Champion. Behnke found himself in Charlotte Motor Speedway victory lane in Round 7 and including victories at EchoPark Speedway, he has 13 total first place finishes on flat quarter-miles in 2025. During Summer Shootout, Behnke scored five additional podium finishes on top of his lone victory. Making the Bandoleros of Busch and Behnke the one battle you won’t want to miss on Championship Saturday.
Special to Bandolero Nationals, Friday’s events will be independent from Saturday. The Outlaws, Bandits, and Beginner Bandolero divisions will each have practice, qualifying and a feature race. For the Outlaws and Bandits, it will serve as an INEX National Qualifier and another opportunity to earn a 100-point victory. Coverage of Friday’s events will begin at approximately 4pm ET/1pm PT on U.S. Legend Cars TV.
Championship Saturday will have a full slate of practice, qualifying, and championship features for Bandoleros, along with a Legend Car INEX National Qualifier feature. Coverage will start at approximately 3pm ET/12pm PT on U.S. Legend Cars TV.
The 2025 INEX Racing Series points season concludes on Sunday, October 5, which only means the championship picture will become clearer for the Bandoleros as the 20th and final race required to win an INEX Bandolero National Championship will be locked in after Saturday. They will have three weeks left to earn any necessary points to lock up a championship or simply move up in the standings.
Drivers can still register and purchase the required tires for the event and non-driver passes are still available for purchase.
