Blue, sunny skies was the perfect backdrop for ProFABrication Qualifying day at The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Friday. The first day of competition for the 2025 INEX Legend Car Asphalt Nationals was not short of action, but saw limited incidents throughout the heat racing and the main feature of the day, the Bassett Fastest Qualifier Challenge.

Taylor Mayhew, the ProFABrication Fastest Qualifier for the Young Lions Division, led the first heat race to green. Brody Glaze took the second position from Cole Dasenbrock as they were going through Turn 2 on the first lap of the race. Austin Steinke and Dasenbrock battled for third, as they went through Turn 2, Steinke took control of the position. Glaze went up the track, which allowed Steinke and Lovell to take second and third. With heat race 1 closing out, Lovell was able to get past Steinke to take second.  Mayhew took the win, with Lovell took second and Steinke third.

From the top side, Ben Morabito was able to get a nice start alongside Spencer Bradshaw, to start the second Young Lions heat race. Morabito was able to take the lead as they entered Turn 2. With Bradshaw going to the outside, Matteo Papis was able to get to his side and took second. Ben Morabito took the checkered flag, Papis finished second and Bradshaw third. Colt Johnson was able to take control of the third Young Lions heat race from the start. While behind him Nathan Williams and Danny Arnold battled one another for the second position throughout the race. With one lap to go, Nathan Williams took the second spot. Johnson won the heat race, with Williams crossing the line second and Arnold third.

Ashton Williams, the Semi-Pro ProFABrication Fastest Qualifier, led the first of five Semi-Pro heats to green, where he stayed all race. Kylie Daniels and Sean Salazar battled for the third position, with Salazar coming out of Turn 2 with the position. Dylan Faulkner and Salazar battled a couple different times for third, with Salazar was able to maintain the position. Williams won the race, Chase Burgeson was second and Salazar was third. Nick Morabito, Kaden Bradshaw, and JR Allen fell into a single file line, first, second, and third, respectively in the second heat race. In a three wide battle, Clayton Bohanon was able to win the battle and take fourth place. With a slight move up the track, Allen was able to take second and Bradshaw settled into third.  Morabito took the win, Allen second, Bradshaw third.

The third heat of Semi-Pros started with a side-by-side battle for the lead between Cole Denton and Josh Lowe. As they came out of Turn 2, Lowe was able to take the lead. Trey Daniels found himself in the third position, after a couple cars fell back. Cole Denton took the lead back on Lap 3, cruising his way to victory. Lowe came in second and Daniels third. Hunter Jordan capitalized on controlling the start and took the lead in the fourth Semi-Pro heat. With a few battles among cars behind them, the top four cars were able to distance themselves from the rest of the field by Lap 3. Mitch Wright was able to get to the bottom of Ayrton Brockhouse and took second with two to go. Jordan crossed the finish line first, as Wright finished second and Brockhouse third.

The fifth and final heat race for Semi-Pro’s started with a side-by-side battle for the lead between Zach Sansom and Wyatt Sansom. Zach was able to come out with it on the backstretch. After starting fourth, Dallas Kibbe was able to take the lead on the third lap. Kibbe went on to win the heat, Zach finished second and Wyatt third.

Heat 1 for Masters had the ProFABrication Fastest Qualifier, Scott Anderson, lead all 10 laps, with a little competition from Robby Sawyer. Sawyer tried the outside for the lead, but ultimately found himself losing a spot with Travis McCollough able to stay behind Anderson, to take second. Heat 2, had plenty of back and forth racing between drivers, though it was all behind David Mayhew as he was able to get a great jump at the start. Darrell Stewart and Danny Medina battled one another the last five laps, with Stewart able to make a late last lap pass to finish second behind Mayhew, who won, while Medina finished third.

A lot of two car battles at the beginning of the race in the front.  Shane Sawin was able to win his battle against Kevin Rollins. While Zeke Hanger and Jason Gilbert battled for the third position. Hanger and Gilbert's battle was throughout the entire race. Ultimately Hanger was able to control the third spot as he crossed the finish line, while in front of him Sawin won and Rollins took second. The final Masters heat was led by Doug Stevens, who found himself in a comfortable lead midway through the race.  Rusty Young was able to get to the inside of Ryan Phipps with three laps to go. On the final lap, Josh Mullins found himself sliding back, which resulted in Young and Phipps moving up. Stevens won the race, Young finished second and Phipps third.

William Howells gave Lincoln Johnson, the ProFABrication Chargers Fastest Qualifier, a nice push to get out in front of everyone to start the Chargers heat race.  Howells was able to then take the lead from Johnson in the backstretch on Lap 4. One lap later, Johnson went a bit high, which allowed Simon Kline to take second. Howells went up the track on the last lap, which allowed Kline to take the win, Johnson scored second and Howells finished third.

The Pro Division ProFABrication Fastest Qualifier, Nick Woodall, led the first heat of the division to green. Woodall, Jensen Jorgensen and Jacob Staten all led the race for a duration of the race between Laps 3 and 5. Ultimately, Woodall took and maintained control of the lead the rest of the race and went on to win the race, while Jorgensen finished second and Staten third. Though competitive racing, the second heat for the Pros was mild compared to others Friday night. Brendan Ruzbarsky, led the field to green, where he stayed for the duration of the race.  Danny Chisholm tried many times to get to the inside and complete the pass on Ruzbarsky, but was unable to do so.  Ruzbarsky won the heat, with Chisholm in second and Robby Czub finished third.

Austin Thompson took first right from the start in the third heat of Pros. A multi-lap battle for third, between Ryan Schartau and Tommy Jackson, ended when they made contact and Jackson fell to the back. Thompson came in first, Alcaro second and Schartau third. The final heat race of the evening was the most exciting, but not for the best of reasons. Joel Smith was able to get a good jump at the start and controlled the lead. Michael Crafton took second, as Branden Giannini had fallen back. Cole Brown battled Crafton for a second and took it on Lap 2. A three-car wreck on Lap 6 brought a red flag for clean up, and resulted in very damaged Legend Cars ahead of Saturday’s championship features. On the restart Tanner Reif was able to get on the inside of Smith and take the lead. Brown followed in Reif’s tracks to take second. Reif went up the track in Turn 2, which allowed Brown to take the lead. However, in Turn 4, Brown went too high and Smith was able to take the win on a late pass. Brown finished second and Giannini third.

The night finished off with the Bassett Fastest Qualifier Challenge, with Pro drivers Nick Woodall and Austin Thompson making up the front row. Woodall took control of the lead right away, as Spencer Bradshaw and Thompson battled side by side for the second position. Bradshaw came out with second in Turn 3 on the second lap. Morabito was able to take second from Bradshaw after a caution regrouped the field a lap earlier.  Thompson and Bradshaw battled for third, with Thompson taking the spot on the backstretch of Lap 5.

Morabito took the lead from Woodall in Turns 3 and 4 on Lap 5. Morabito built himself a comfortable lead by Lap 14, while Woodall and Thompson have also distanced themselves from the rest of the field. By Lap 18, all cars were spaced out and ran single file. As the race closed in on the checker flag, Thompson tried to make a move for second a couple of times but was unable to close the deal. Morabito won the Bassett Fastest Qualifier Challenge, Woodall took second and Thompson third. Woodall was the top finishing Pro, while in fifth place, Doug Stevens was the top Masters Division driver. Finally, Chase Burgeson was the highest placing Semi-Pro in seventh.
