The 30th INEX Legend Car Dirt Championship Nationals was contested at Lawrenceburg Speedway on Saturday, and the battles were in every feature of the night, ending with two former Dirt Nationals champions and two new faces in victory lane. The night ended with the most intense battle of the event. The Pro Division drivers battle hard for the top spot, often able to throw a blanket over the top five. Steven Partin, Tanner Jones, and Alex McCollum all found themselves at the top of the leaderboard at one point during the 30-lap feature. Slide jobs were thrown and bumper most definitely touched.
At the checkered flag following a three-lap shootout, McCollum defended against Partin successfully despite Partin giving it everything he had on the dirt. Joe Ryan Osborne, Billy Workman Jr., and Preston Maritn completed the top 5.
Jeremy Ott was quick all day, and it was in a day that a driver had to adapt to changing condictions. With Friday's competition a wash, ProFabrication Qualifying, Heat Racing, and Feature Racing was all run on Saturday. Ott's Legend Car, painted like a school bus, was fast and easy to pull away from his competition. In the end, Scott Richardson gave it one last run for the money in the final laps of the feature, but wasn't able to muster a strike, ultimately settling for second. Michael Mohelski, Zeke Hanger, and Corey Pope rounded out the top five, which often was the battle for who could capture second.
The Semi-Pros were chaotic and wild, but Hayden Schmuhl prevailed over his competition. Several caution were needed to be overcome, meaning the ever difficult restart. Schmuhl wasn't fazed, winning the race under yellow as the time flag had been displayed.
After his two biggest competitiors suffered a crash, Eli Black was free to sail away from the field. Colton Brock had to retire his car, but Tayln Neuman continued, but wasn't able to return to the top five.
The night was the second Dirt Championship Nationals feature race win for McCollum and Ott, while Schmuhl and Black each earned their first victory in the season ending dirt weekend for Legend Cars.
INEX Championship Season continues with Road Course World Finals for both Legend Cars and Bandoleros, October 30th-November 1st at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, followed by the final championship event, Legend Car Asphalt Championship Nationals, November 12th-14th at Dillon Motor Speedway. Both events will be streamed on USLegendCars.TV. Replays of Saturday's on-track competition can be streamed on USLCI TV.
