The 29th running of the INEX Bandolero Championship Nationals was an eventful Saturday. A total of 67 Bandoleros took laps around the EchoPark Speedway quarter-mile. At day’s end, it was Lucas McFall and Daylen Pennington carrying the first-place trophies for Outlaws and Bandits, respectively.
A semi-event Beginner Bandolero feature saw ProFabrication Fastest Qualifier Chandler Stanley led the field to green and not look back. It wasn’t a walk in the park however, as Colton Sherman was filling his mirror the vast majority of the race. Under green conditions, the two would pull away from the rest of the field. Cautions re-racked the field a few times, but it wouldn’t make Stanley stumble, capturing the victory, and sweeping the Beginner Bandolero features this weekend.
The Bandits Division was a hard fought battle for competitors across the field. Troubles struck early for ProFabrication Fastest Qualifier and national points leader Lucas Harrison. He’d lost a few positions on the initial start, then while under caution he lost a front tire and wheel. He was towed back to the hot pits and his Bandolero was fixed and ready to go back racing.
Up front the battle was intense and saw many positions swapped during restarts. Daylen Pennington, Casen Tate, Wesley Baumeister and Maverick Bradshaw were constant faces up front. Late-race issues caused Baumeister to fall to the rear of the field. For a time Giovanni Anderlini ran second behind Pennington, before Connor Sanders entered the mix.
At the checkered flag, Pennington had pulled away from second-place with four cars under a blanket finishing second through fifth. Pennington finished second during Friday’s INEX National Qualifier features, earning a small bit of redemption with Saturday’s Bandits Championship Feature victory.
In their fight for a national championship, Lucas Harrison scored 65 points, Landon Solomito scored 78, Daylen Pennington’s victory earned him 100 points, and Maverick Bradshaw scored 91.
In the final Bandolero race of the day, Lucas McFall started first after his first-place effort in ProFabrication Qualifying. Starting second, was the driver to beat all summer at EchoPark Speedway, Carson Sherman. As the race got underway, McFall held a steady wheel around the quarter-mile. In his track, however, was Sherman.
The race struggled to find a groove as several cautions did not permit the field to have long-green flag runs. With a plethora of restarts, McFall was continuously tested, eventually patenting a high-line approach to bringing the field to restarts, giving him an extra speed boost down the frontstretch and into the corner.
With the race struggling to find long runs, Sherman was unable to find the right opportunity around McFall, and twice he was alongside him down the backstretch and into turns three and four, when the caution lights were switched on for incident. A final restart with two laps to go wasn’t enough time for Sherman to get his Bandolero into high gear, leaving McFall to take the checkered flag first, claiming the Outlaws Championship Feature victory.
In the Outlaws national points, Carson Sherman’s second place finish netted him 97 points, Harley Johnson earned 94, and Luka Dib scored 54 points.
The day ended with two Legend Car features. One for Chargers, won by Caleb Bailey, and one for Unified Legend Cars, won by Jensen Jorgensen.
Points and championships are not official as of this weekend. The 2026 INEX Racing Series points season concludes on Sunday, October 4th, with points not being official until October 28th.
