Tuesday night at Charlotte Motor Speedway marked the final chapter of the 2026 Cook Out Summer Shootout. The quarter-mile at America’s Home for Racing was treated to new faces out front and battles through each field that entertained the crowd, with worthy performances of a championship celebration.

As rain started to show up, so did the VP Racing Fuel Semi-Pro Division, with the Wrisley brothers leading the field to green. Preston Wrisley got a dream of a start, flying by his brother Sterling, who sat on the pole. Points leader Colton Hale was starting to get antsy early on while sitting behind Sterling, trying to force a move on him. The race was paused for around an hour due to weather, but the cars were able to fire back up and cap off Summer Shootout the right way.

Just as the race started, the Wrisley brothers led the field to green following the long delay. Hale was able to work his way in between the brothers, getting past Sterling then immediately getting by Preston as well to take the lead. After a restart, Hale shot out to his biggest lead so far, sitting comfortably while the rest of the field battled behind him. The time flag was waived on Lap 15, with ten to go and with Hale still controlling the field. A spin in the back of the field brought out the yellow and checkered, giving Colton Hale the victory, and sealed the 2026 Semi-Pro Championship.

Points leader Maverick Bradshaw led the field to green, but a car problem on Lap 2 handed the lead to the number seven of Camden Powers. As Bradshaw was in second before the caution came out, his team was able to work on his car and get him back out before the green flag, giving him the chance to take the lead back. But only a few laps later, Bradshaw went into the work area once again during the second caution. He was not able to join back before the green, giving Camden Powers and Lucas Harrison the keys to the front row. A few cautions later, Roo Reaves was in front leading the field to green. After two consecutive failed restarts, Roo Reaves led the field to green with Landon Solomito on his tail. The pink flag was waved before a car spun out, bringing out the yellow and checkered, giving Reaves the victory. But despite his troubles Bradshaw was able to take home the Bandits Championship. 

The Young Lions Division kicked off with Turner Brown finding multiple positions in just one lap, and ultimately working his way up to second in just five laps. But he had a man to chase down, Gerald White III, who had a near one second lead over Brown on Lap 7. Brown quickly closed in, getting right on the bumper of White before getting past him in Turn 1 of Lap 11. Brown was able to extend his lead to about four car-lengths before the first yellow of the race was called, bunching the field back up.

Eli Black was able to use the restart to his advantage, as he squeezed past White before snatching the lead from Brown. Black and Brown grew their lead to about a second over the rest of the field, before Brown took his lead back with three to go. Brown shot out to a lone lead with two to go, as he cruised to his first ever Summer Shootout win. Although Brown won the race, Landon Thrasher goes home as the Young Lions Champion, backing up his Bandolero Outlaws Championship from last year.

The 2024 and 2025 Cook Out Summer Shootout Pro Division Champion, Jake Bollman, led the field to green, with Joel Smith right beside him. Bollman got an ideal start, with cars battling three wide behind him. Tyler Reif and Nick Woodall got the upper hand of the three wide, getting by Smith. Smith was right on the tail of Woodall around Lap 5, looking for a way to get back into the top two. Bollman was able to grow his lead to over a second and a half, making it harder for Reif to do anything as he was caught in no man's land by himself in second.

All of the top three got stretched out, all separated by at least a second on Lap 17. The top three stayed the same until the end, with Bollman getting the win, and Reif and Smith right behind. Ben Morabito didn’t have the most spectacular night, finishing eighth, but still ended the night holding the Pro Division championship belt. The 2026 championship is Morabito’s third Summer Shootout title across three divisions.

The final race of Summer Shootout featured none other than the “crazy old men” of the Dilling H-VAC Masters Division. 1999 Pro Division Champion Doug Stevens took charge of the field, taking over the number five machine of Brandin Wrisley. An early yellow brought the field back together, with Round 9 winner Scott Mosely in second eyeing down Stevens. The top three of Stevens, Moseley and Brandon Mckenzie separated themselves from the rest of the field only six laps in, with Moseley doing everything he can to reel in Stevens. Stevens was able to grow his lead to over a second around halfway in, but Mckenzie was gradually closing the gap to Moseley in second. Doug Stevens performance was everything but lackluster, as he was able to take the win with a gap of over five seconds and show the Masters Division he still has gas left in his tank. 

Jeff Bolen won the Dilling H-VAC Masters Championship, backing up his Thursday Thunder title at EchoPark Speedway one week ago.

Carson Sherman claimed the fastest lap for the ninth time this Shootout, as he led the field to green. An early accident collected multiple cars and brought out a yellow before a lap was even completed. Sherman led the field to the second green, but Lucas McFall found his way around Sherman and led early on. Sherman wasted no time to take the lead back, as only a few laps later the points leader was back out front. McFall entered the work area after contact with Sherman, the 54 of Jackson Jones was now the one tracking down Sherman. The top two were able to extend their lead to over two seconds, with Sherman still commanding the field. Only a few laps later Carson Sherman secured his championship, winning seven out of the ten races. 

A failed first attempt on a start for the Chargers Division jumbled the field up, but the field took the green just a lap later before all tucking in single file. Pole sitter Gerardo Peralta and Michael Bradshaw were the two up front battling for the lead early, with Matthew Garland right behind them. Bradshaw pulled into the pit area on Lap 6, giving Garland a free pass up to second. The field was all filed in, playing follow the leader while waiting for the right time to make a move. A restart with 8 Laps to go gave Garland the best shot to pounce to first, but Peralta would not budge. Peralta was able to extend his lead to just south of a second with three to go, putting him in good position before taking the checkered flag.

As the skies looked darker, the speeds got faster, with the Chargers Division B Feature kicking off the Legend Car action. Bro Jordan took an early and commanding lead before a four-car collision brought out the red flag. Jordan led the field back to green following the red flag, with Jayden Glennerster right on his tail. Glennerster found the inside on Lap 9, quickly jumping out front before Jordan pulled a switch back to get back up front. A yellow flag called with two to go put a hold on Jordan’s plans, but did not change them, as Jordan took home the Chargers B Feature.

Stetson Stroup quickly found himself alone in front setting the pace in the Rookie Bandolero Division, with the top three about five car lengths ahead of the rest of the field. Stroup extended his lead to over a second on Lap 7, with Chandler Stanley and Gio Anderlini chased him down. After three cars spin heading into Turn 2, a late yellow was deployed with 4 Laps to go, giving Stanley and Anderlini one more chance to take the lead. Stanley tried to make a move on the last two corners but lost control, bringing out another caution while giving Gio Anderlini the lead with one lap to go. One lap is all Anderlini needed up front, as the Indiana Native capped off his Summer Shootout on a high note. 

Ryder Stewart led the opening race to green, as he stayed up front and set the pace for a majority of the Beginner B Feature. Multiple spins throughout the field slowed the pace down, but Stewart was still in control with Carter Kennedy right on his tail. Kennedy found his way around Stewart on Lap 11, but a caution right after that bunched the field back up. Stewart got the break of the day, as Kennedy spun out with three laps to go, putting him back up top before he took home the Beginner Bandolero B Feature win.

The overall MPI Up on the Wheel award recipients were Cameron Bolin (Pro), Landen Wilfong (Semi-Pro), Adam Welch (Masters), James Behnke (Young Lions), Ava Boyd (Outlaws), and Carter Clapp (Bandits). 

Dates for the 2027 Cook Out Summer Shootout were announced Tuesday. The 2027 campaign will begin on Monday, June 14 and conclude on Tuesday, July 27, consisting of 10 total rounds, including three doubleheader weeks. 

The Kyle Busch Invitational at Bowman Gray Stadium will be on Friday, August 21, and will be available to watch on FloSports.

INEX Championship National events will start with INEX Bandolero Championship Nationals at EchoPark Speedway, September 25-26, following by INEX Legend Car Dirt Championship Nationals at Indiana’s Lawrenceburg Speedway, October 15-17. For the first time since 2018, INEX Road Course World Finals returns to Las Vegas Motor Speedway, October 30-November 1 and the season will conclude at Dillon Motor Speedway for INEX Legend Car Asphalt Championship Nationals, November 12-14. All these championship events will be streamed on U.S. Legend Cars TV.
