A recent graduate into a Legend Car, barely a year has passed since Landen Wilfong first competed in a Legend Car. Using iRacing as a testing bed, Wilfong has a fondness for road courses, with the dream of racing at Spa-Francorchamps, but not before getting behind the wheel of a late model and trying out dirt.

1. How did you get your start in racing?

My friend and I used to go to rental go-karting tracks, then he got into actual go-karts and I kind of just followed him, and I've been racing go-karts for three years now. I just recently got into a Legend Car, probably within the last year. I got into a Legend Car in like last August, and I've just been racing both go-karts and Legends cars ever since.

2. How did you get your number?

The number 8 is actually really special to me. I was born on 8/8/08. So, I just used the number 8, and I've always used it.

3. Who is your biggest inspiration within racing?

 I think my biggest inspiration has to be my parents. They’ve always helped me through everything, and they're the reason why I'm racing today, and they've gotten me into the sport and just helped me.

4. What is your favorite racing memory?

I think my favorite racing memory had to have been when I first got into a Legend Car on a road course; it was so much fun, and I just loved it so much.

5. How do you measure success while racing?

I gauge it based on progress, like just starting in something that's completely new to you. I mean, you could win, but it's all about progress for me. I just try and get better every single time I touch the track, and hopefully we'll get to a win.

6. What was the biggest difference between karts and Legends?

I think the biggest difference has to be changing gears, but also being super smooth with the wheel. In a go-kart, you have to be insanely smooth. You can't jerk the wheel at all. Then in the Legend Car, you kind of have, like, it's more forgiving if you jerk your wheel a little bit, but the go-kart, you just gotta be so smooth and perfect.

7. What’s been your favorite track you’ve raced on?

New Hampshire Motor Speedway, the road course. 

8. If you could race on one track in the world, what would it be?

I think it would have to be Spa.

9. What are your racing goals for 2026 and beyond?

I think our biggest racing goal is to try and get into bigger and faster cars. I think the next thing we're gonna try and get into is possibly a late model. Maybe some dirt cars. We are just trying to figure everything out, and whatever you know comes across the table we're gonna take.

10. How do you prepare to test other cars?

I do iRacing a lot, and I think what I did for Legends was I drove it on iRacing for a pretty, pretty long time, and then we tested the car to see if I would like it, and I actually really, really liked it when we got into it, and we just decided to get one. So I think that will be like the next step. I'll probably drive some things on iRacing, and then test it in person to see if I really want to drive it, and then if all goes well, hopefully end up racing it.

11. What is the biggest lesson racing has taught you?

Probably just because you didn't win the race doesn't mean that you didn't accomplish something.

12. What are your hobbies outside of racing?

I like to do art; it's something that I really love to do. I also love to hang out with friends, travel and snowboard.
