Even though weather delayed the day and postponed the Bandolero races, Tuesday’s Round 8 of the 2025 Cook Out Summer Shootout did not disappoint. The Legend cars heated up the track, packing the night with action across every division under the lights at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

The Chargers took to the track after a long-awaited weather delay. The action started early, with Parker Ives leading the way, with the whole pack behind him trying to find space to race on the damp track. Ives dominated the race with Camden Truett, Paityn Feyen, and Cole Gudmestad fighting for the podium behind him. During a late-race restart, Truett took advantage by taking the high side in Turn 2, passing Ives to take the lead with just three laps to go. “Killacam” drove to victory, his second Chargers win in a row, Gudmestad and Thomas Harris following behind to finish out the podium with Ives ending in fourth.

It was an eventful first 5 minutes of the Young Lions race, starting with a caution right out of the gates in Turn 1 of the opening lap. Case James led the field into Turn 1, but Bryson Nichols got knocked off the track sending him spinning into the slick turf. The field was reset to its original lineup for the restart, with James, Ben Morabito, Spencer Bradshaw, and Nichols all racing hard at the front of the pack. Morabito threaded the needle to get up to the front, and became the new leader on the opening lap. The track started to dry up and much cleaner racing continued after a second caution occurred in Lap 2.

Bryson Nichols took his chance in Lap 3 and dialed up the outside to pass James for second to try and battle with Morabito for first. With confidence, Nichols overtook Morabito in Lap 5 and never looked back. A couple cars behind, TJ Moon and Bradshaw battled it out for fourth with 13 laps to go. Nichols continued to absolutely dominate with a 5.6 second advantage over the rest of the pack, as he made his way into lapping the rest of the field.

Nichols took home an impressive victory at Charlotte Motor Speedway to get his second career Legend Car win. Morabito finished in second, Bradshaw in third, while Moon and James settled for fourth and fifth. The Championship battle tightened up, as Spencer Bradshaw now holds only a three-point advantage over Morabito. Colton Hale is third in points, 13 points behind Bradshaw.

Sam Butler and Neal Dulin opened up the VP Racing Fuels Semi-Pro Feature with three and four wide rows of cars behind them in Turn 1. The front of the field was all gas, no brakes until a Lap 9 caution slowed the action for a restart. Butler held onto the lead with Dulin fighting hard behind him. From then on, it was a slow-moving race full of yellow flags and even tires being sent flying. The race was cut short at 18 laps where time had run out for Dulin, but Butler was able to hold on until the final caution to get his second Semi Pro win at the 2025 Cook Out Summer Shootout.

Butler extended his points lead to an 11-point advantage over Dylan Faulkner. Issues for Chase Burgeson dropped him to now 41 points behind Butler.

The Dilling Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Electrical Pro Division was nothing short of action packed into its Round 8 feature to finish out all 25 laps. Tyler Reif took the lead out of the green light with a 3 wide behind him going into Turn 3. London McKenzie, Danny Chisholm, and Michael Crafton all fighting behind Reif in the first couple of laps until the first caution came out in Lap 5. In the restart, Shane van Gisbergen made his way into fourth after starting in ninth to fight for points with teammate Scott McLaughlin behind him. Reif, McKenzie, and Chisholm continued to fight in the front of the pack, bouncing off each other and causing a chain reaction that pulled out another yellow flag in Round 8.

After the restart, it was wheel-to-wheel racing as McKenzie challenged Reif for first with Chisholm right there with them on Lap 12, until a lock-up sent cars bumping and flying through the air, mixing up the order in another restart. McKenzie started up front with McLaughlin, Reif, Ryan Zima, PJ Evans, and Jenson Jorgenson behind in an all-out pushing and shoving battle with cars in the back sent spinning on Turn 1 of Lap 15.

The track had to be cleaned up from a fluid spill, ending up with a single file restart led by Reif, Zima, McKenzie, Jorgenson, and Bubba Wallace in fifth. Wallace made his way into fourth to battle McKenzie for the podium position. McKenzie dropped back as Wallace, Jorgenson, Mclaughlin, and Jake Bollman overtook him on the inside lane. Another yellow flag paused the drama, and Zima challenged Reif for first in a Lap 23 restart, but Reif held on while Wallace snatched the second-place win at the finish line behind Reif.

The victory was Reif’s second of the 2025 Cook Out Summer Shootout, and now leads his teammate and defending Pro Division Champion, Jake Bollman, by seven points. Chisholm finds himself 17 points behind with Keelan Harvick trailing by 28.

Even while starting seventh, Kyle Busch made his way to the front to take home another American Rebel Ale Masters feature win. The first couple laps gave Busch the advantage as he avoided a spin out and ended up closer to the front for the restart. Brandin Wrisley, Kyle Beattie, and Robby Faggart pushed ahead of Busch until Beattie got into Wrisley's low side, causing their wheels to tangle, and Busch took the lead and sealed the deal for his fifth 2025 Cook Out Summer Shootout win.

With two rounds remaining, Robby Faggart has 55-point lead over second-place Kyle Beattie. Brandin Wrisley is 62 back and Lee Jordan trails by 71. Despite his five victories, Kyle Busch has missed two races and is fifth in points, down 77.

Round 8 Bandolero races will be rescheduled for next week. Round 9 of the Cook Out Summer Shootout will be contested on Tuesday, July 22 with tickets available for purchase on CharlotteMotorSpeedway.com. Replays of all this summer’s Legend Car and Bandolero action, including Tuesday’s Legend Car Round 8 features, can be streamed on FloRacing.com.
