The temperature might have been very high, but the drivers brought the HEAT during Round 4 of the Cook Out Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway. From a flag-to-flag breathtaking feature to a three-peat win streak or even a redemption victory, Round 4 had everything a driver or fan could ask for.
A thrilling and speed focused green to checkered flag race, the Dilling Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, and Electrical Pro Division showed just why they are called “pros” on Tuesday night. While Danny Chisholm led the first eight laps, Jenson Jorgensen showed off his skill and speed in Lap 9, taking the lead with Chisholm, Keelan Harvick, Bubba Wallace, and Jake Bollman following close behind.
By Lap 13, Jorgensen, Chisholm, and Harvick begin to pull away from the rest of the field, with Jorgensen trying to extend his lead from the other two. Jorgensen’s speed and precision made it look easy as he continued to push away from the other drivers in the closing laps of the feature. Within eight minutes, the Round 4 Pro Feature was complete and Jenson Jorgensen added another first place trophy to his Legends career.
A nine-car collision may have kicked off Round 4 of the Chargers Division, but the skill displayed by the front of the field could not be outshined. Cash LeCroy closed in on the top spot aggressively during Lap 7, closely followed by Rylee Hutchins and Brexton Busch as Thomas Harris fell to fifth.
LeCroy pushed hard and got a solid lead ahead of the field before a three-car collision on Lap 16 caused a caution and time limit flag. With time up and the resetting of the field, it was a race to the finish for LeCroy, Hutchins, and Busch. As the white flag flew, LeCroy pulled away and won his third straight win in the Chargers Division with Hutchins taking second.
Another exciting race at America’s Home for Racing Tuesday night was courtesy of the VP Racing Fuels Semi-Pro Division. Coming back from a heartbreak ending in Round 3 of the Cook Out Summer Shootout, Round 4 proved to be Sam Butler’s redemption arc. Butler developed a lead in lap 3, with the remaining drivers following closely behind.
Isaac Kitzmiller made at run at Chase Burgeson for second on Lap 5, with Neal Dulin close behind. Despite a caution flag on Lap 11 and quality racing from his competition, Butler hung onto his lead as Kitzmiller tried to gain momentum. By Lap 21, Kitzmiller began to close in on Butler, adding intensity and pressure for the no. 81 car to be victorious.
Butler managed to escape the efforts of Kitzmiller on the final lap, making up for last week’s loss with a visit to victory lane and motivation to celebrate.
The Young Lions Round 4 Feature was an intense and hard-fought battle to the checkered flag for a number of drivers. Through the first eleven laps, the fight was on between Ben Morabito, Colton Hale, and Bryson Nichols as they were each trying to slip past the other two in order to grab a hold of the first spot.
By the ninth lap, Morabito was passed on the inside and fell to the fifth spot, giving Rhodes the lead with Hale following closely. However, a commotion of wrecks and spinouts in the top six on Lap 12 knocked Rhodes, Hale, and Case James out of reach for the podium and giving Spencer Bradshaw a shot at the trophy along with Morabito and Nathan Williams after the caution restart.
Bradshaw pulled away from the rest of the field, while Morabito and Williams were going back and forth for second. On their bumpers, Nichols returns to the front half of the pack for an opportunity to get onto the podium. However, the field is reset after another caution flag restart and Bradshaw comes out on top with a bumper-to-bumper finish because of a time limit reach for this third win in four races.
Kyle Busch did not seem to have any loss of momentum or grit coming off of his Cook Out Summer Shootout Round 3 victory one week ago, as he pushed to an early lead in Round 4 of the American Rebel Ale Masters Division. While it may have been a start-and-stop night for the Masters, the one consistent factor throughout the race was Busch leading the way.
Busch led the field throughout the entire feature, with Sean Parker, Robby Faggart, and Jesse Bunnell trying to close the gap. Busch secured his third Masters win of the season as the time limit was reached on the track after 15 laps.
Just like his father’s racing last night, the Bandits Division was a highlight reel race for Brexton Busch, who shined from start to finish and secured his third win this year in the Cook Out Summer Shootout. Apart from Busch’s dominance, the second and third places were heavily fought for.
Laps seven through nine were interrupted with numerous caution flags and restarts, enabling Taegan Knowland to pass James Behnke to squeeze into the second position. Putting up a tough fight, Behnke recovered on Lap 12 and fought off Knowland for second. Busch made his third appearance in victory lane for his success in the Bandits Division, showing promise of a strong season ahead.
The Outlaws Division was nothing short of intense as the sun set over Charlotte Motor Speedway. The feature started with quite the rocky start, including a multitude of caution flags and a three-car wreck into the wall of the backstretch before the second lap could even be completed. As racing picked up, Carson Sherman and Chase Spaulding fought off Landon Thrasher, creating highly intense racing for a spot in the top five.
A restart on Lap 6 propelled Thrasher’s momentum, making his way into second, passing Spaulding. Thrasher then was able to close in on Sherman and pass him on Lap 13 before a caution flag causes a restart on Lap 16.
In what was a time limit finish, Landon Thrasher was able to cross the finish line first by 0.011 with Rylan Speight right beside him. In the end, Speight was elevated to the win following post-race technical inspection, making Round 4 his first Cook Out Summer Shootout victory in 2025.
The Beginner Bando A Feature of the Cook Out Summer Shootout was no challenge for Brody Zacharias, who dominated the field from start to finish. While Anthony Pedulla closed in on Zacharias in the final two laps after a caution flag on Lap 13, Zacharias was able to conclude his first win at Charlotte Motor Speedway with Pedulla and Wyatt Linker following behind.
In a relatively clean Beginner Bando B Feature race, Joshua Penn Jr. finished first after leading throughout all 12 laps. Michael Scronce secured second while in a late fight for third, Owen Price pushed in the final lap to cross the checkered flag to close out the podium.
The 2025 Cook Out Summer Shootout resumes on Monday, June 30 for Round 5 with Round 6 taking place on Tuesday, July 1. Grandstands will open at 5pm and tickets can be purchased at CharlotteMotorSpeedway.com. Replays of the first four rounds can be viewed on FloRacing.com.
