The Cook Out Summer Shootout resumed on Tuesday night with the fourth round of action on Charlotte Motor Speedway’s quarter-mile, providing entertainment for fans of action and a few extra meaningful victories throughout the night.

The VP Racing Fuel Semi-Pro Division gave the fans a stop-and-start race, with one man leading from green to checkered, Preston Wrisley. Just five laps after Wrisley took the initial green flag, a two-car collision in Turn 2 brought out an early caution. The top three remained the same after the restart, with Wrisley setting the pace before the second caution of the night on Lap 8. The man in second, Cameron White, started to get a little antsy after the restart, showing some love to the back bumper of Preston Wrisley, looking for a way around.

But another early caution halted White’s chase-down. The top two stayed the same around Lap 11, but Trent Dillard was right on the tail of White before a mishap, letting Wrisley and White lead the field by over a second. As it looked like the top two would run away with it, a red flag was called after a single car crash. Wrisley once again led the field to a green flag, with White and Dillard getting antsy right behind him. White was able to win that battle with Dillard and had a chance to chase down Wrisley one last time, but a yellow and checkered flag spoiled his hunt. Giving an emotional first ever Summer Shootout win to the man who led the pack to the initial green flag, Preston Wrisley.

Landon Solomito secured the fastest time in Booth 34 Qualifying in the Bandits Division, but started sixth due to the invert. The number seven of Camden Powers led the field to green and set the pace heading into turn one. An early caution slowed the field down on the first lap, where two-time winner and Summer Shootout points leader Maverick Bradshaw came to a halt on the front stretch. The gold and black Cook Out scheme of Roo Reaves set the pace on the restart and got out to a healthy lead on the backstretch.

The Bandits National Points leader, Lucas Harrison, brought out the next caution after his car lost power on the backstretch during Lap 6. Reaves brought the field back up to racing speed on Lap 8 after another caution, where he found his pace and let the rest of the field battle amongst themselves. Reaves controls the field, but a yellow on Lap 16 bunches the field back up for a four-lap shootout. As Camden Powers chased Reaves for most of the race, this was his time to make something happen. But Roo Reaves and the Cook Out Bandolero held on for his first Shootout win of the year.

A night full of racing got started as the Beginner Bandos hit the quarter-mile track. Gio Anderlini set the fastest lap in Booth 34 Qualifying and led the field to green in the opening race of the night. Anderlini showed promise leading the first two laps, but that is all he was able to lead, as he was spun on Lap 3 by Stetson Stroup. With the top two being sent to the back of the field, Chandler Stanley led the pack back up to racing speed, but the field could not even make it back to Turn 3 before another caution was called. Stanley once again led the group back to green in a stop-and-start race, as he grew his lead and stretched away from the pack. The cautions did not end there, as one was called with two laps to go, but that did not phase Stanley one bit as he was able to hang on and win his first Summer Shootout race of the year.

In the Beginner Bandolero B Feature, Rylan Cooper scored the victory, holding off a late-race charge from Jordyn Whitford.

Leading the Outlaws Division to the green flag was Jackson Jones after the invert put the Booth 34 Fastest Qualifier, Carson Sherman, back to fifth. But by Lap 2, Sherman was already up to second and running down Jones. On Lap 5, Jones bobbled off corner exit in Turn 4, giving Sherman the opportunity to put his Bandolero alongside Jones'. The pass was completed into Turn 1 on Lap 6, now putting Jones on the charge and he was able to pull along side Sherman before the start line, putting Sherman on the outside lane into Turn 1. Sherman was able to reclaim the lead, but not get back to the line in the lead before a caution on Lap 8 reset the field. Jones would lead the field back to green with Carson Cauble on his outside, who launched well, taking the lead from Jones on the outside. A quick yellow was displayed and Cauble restarted from the number one position with 10 laps to go. Cauble retained the lead for the final half of the race, holding off Sherman for the win, while Lucas McFall took home third over Jones.

The Chargers Division got the Legend Car racing started, as one driver dominated the field to secure his second win of the Shootout. Penelope Carlisle led the field to green, but right behind her was Braden Scott, the winner of Round 2. Carlisle was only able to lead through three turns as Scott showed us who had the fastest car in the Chargers Division. Scott was able to grow his lead to over a second six laps in, and only one thing could slow him down: cautions. A yellow flag came out with seven laps and two laps to go. With Scott taking the charge on both restarts, and the Bandits' winner Roo Reaves chasing him down. Although Reeves was trying to stay in Scott’s mirrors, the number nine machine was too fast to catch, as Braden Scott won his second Charger A Feature of the Cook Out Summer Shootout.

Following technical inspection, Zoey Smith was awarded the victory for the Chargers B Feature.

The Young Lions Division had a plethora of fast race cars as they kicked off the first Legends points race of the night. The 45 of Colt Johnson led the field to green with his teammate Turner Brown directly behind him in third. A caution on lap one bunches the field back up, but the top two remain the same after the restart. As Johnson and Brown occupied the top two spots, Brexton Busch made moves from behind to work his way up to third and chase down a pair of teammates. Busch looked to have the pace to pass Brown on lap 10, but could not find any space and waited for a mistake. That mistake never happened, though, as Johnson and Brown pulled away from the field after a caution on lap 12. The fifth yellow of the race came out with eight to go, and Busch jumped back up to third with another chance to chase down the teammates. But the man who led the field to green showed who had the fastest car, as Colt Johnson took home the Young Lions Victory after leading almost every lap.

Green to checkered leaders seemed to be a trend tonight, especially in the all-important Pro Division, which saw the 79 machine of Neal Dulin take the two most important flags of the night. As Dulin started up front, Round 2 winner Ben Morabito was right on his tail while looking for his second Shootout win of the year. The field spread out in single-file formation, almost playing follow-the-leader a few laps in, but a caution on Lap 5 brought the field back together. The top two of Dulin and Morabito stayed the same after the restart, with the rest of the field staying single file in close quarters, waiting for someone to make a mistake. Those mistakes never came, as Dulin grew his lead out to over half a second with about five to go. After that, there was no catching Dulin as he cruised to his second victory of the summer.

Just like the VP Racing Fuels Semi-Pro Division, the Dilling H-VAC Masters Division had a Wrisley lead them to green. But this time it was Brandin Wrisley leading the pack to the start-finish line. Wrisley led the field back to green more than once after a stopped car in the infield brought out a yellow flag only one lap in. Wrisley led the field to a green flag start for the second lap in a row, with Lee Jordan and Robby Faggart right on his tail. Around the halfway point, the field looked like a conga line as it was single-file, waiting for Wrisley to make a mistake. But the 27 of Tom Sherman was the first one to exit that conga line, as he wrecked on the back stretch with only eight laps to go.

As it looked like the fans were in for an eight-lap shootout, second-place Lee Jordan got caught up in an incident just a lap after the restart. Bringing out the red flag. But right as the pack went to take the next green flag, Round 2 winner Jesse Bunnell and leader Brandin Wrisley got tangled up, sending Wrisley into the wall and ending his promising night. It looked as if the field would now get a seven-lap shootout, but a second red flag came out with only 3 Laps to go, setting up what was the final shootout of the race. Kevin Rollins and Bunnell led the field back to green with only a few laps to go, with Rollins getting the upper hand on the restart. After the Rollins advantage on the restart, there was no catching him as he became the fourth different winner through four rounds of the Dilling H-VAC Masters Division.

The 2026 Cook Out Summer Shootout continues on Monday and Tuesday with Round 5 on Monday, June 29th and Round 6 on Tuesday, June 30th. An autograph session and fireworks will accompany the Round 6 races at the conclusion of the night’s feature races.
