How did you get your start in racing?

I got started when I was 10 years old when my dad got me a Go-Kart for my birthday. I started racing Karts all around Iowa, and it was in 2023 when I got a Legend Car from Legends Direct. I ran dirt in 2023 and 2024 before I made the switch to asphalt in 2025. I think dirt taught me a lot to be a multi-complex driver and it has helped me become a better asphalt driver.

How did you pick the number 13?

I played flag football for my church when I was 6. I was scared to play football unless my dad was the coach, and when I first started playing, they gave me the number 13. After that for the next few seasons the number I was given was always 13 so I thought that was special. My favorite football player Brock Purdy also wore 13 so it seemed like it worked out to be my number.

Who is your biggest inspiration and why?

My biggest inspiration would be my dad, because of how hard he works to give me the chance that he never got for racing.

What is your favorite racing memory and why?

My fifth win this season at Jefferson County speedway in Wisconsin, because it was the state championship race and I was able to win the state championship. It was probably my biggest win, and it felt really special.

How do you get focused before a race?

Pre-race I always throw the football with my dad so that I can get my hand-eye coordination active. I also pray before every race to make sure he is with me and gives me strength for the race. I also always make sure I brush my teeth before each race.

What is your favorite track and why?

Jefferson County Speedway, because it’s a big hill with a lot of elevation change and you are driving it in off the chip.

How has your faith helped you as a driver?

It has helped me in guiding me to be the man I want to become, and through the uncertainty of the future of my life. It is definitely everything to me, it’s the motivation in racing and why I do what I do. It is an essential part of my everyday life.

From your four years of racing so far, what has been your biggest take away for each new race?

I think that the biggest thing I have learned has been working with my driving coach, looking back at the season everything I have picked up with the Miller team, I couldn’t tell how much better of a driver that I am from before I started working with them.

How did you get your nickname?

After my fourth win at Hawkeye Downs the track announcer bestowed the nickname “Sunshine” because of the colors of my car and the quarterback from the movie Remember the Titans. When I am down south I have been called "Yankee" at races, as well.

How did it feel to be an Iowa asphalt state champion in 2025? What were some of the challenges you faced to get it?

It’s definitely cool to be a state champion and also racing at the national level representing Iowa. You don’t typically see a lot of national racers out of the Midwest, and it’s really cool what I was able to accomplish this season. Staying centered in Christ was what allowed me to maneuver through the ups and downs of the season. For me, you have to always give the glory to God when things are going good or bad in life.

What are your racing goals for 2026?

Establish myself on the national level this year, I am going to be traveling a lot more and running more races in the south this year. I also hope to get some tests and races in a late model this year. It’s going to big year, and I am excited about it.

If you could race at any track in the world, what would it be and why?

I would probably say Daytona. That was the first ever cup race I attended for the Daytona 500. I think the biggest track in racing is at Daytona so I think I would want to race there.
