Oliver Dibble is ready to be steady at the wheel this weekend as he gears up for Road Course World Finals this weekend at Dominion Raceway! He has worked hard to get to have the success he has had so far, whether it be on oval or road courses.
Hometown: Owen Cross Roads, AL
Division: Semi-Pro
Number: 44
1. How did you get your start in racing?
I was actually at a local hockey game, and the quarter-mile track near home had a display that I was really interested in. I convinced my dad to go check it out and they invited us to participate in their “arrive and drive” event.
2. How did you get the number 44?
It is actually because of Lewis Hamilton. He is my favorite F1 driver and I have always liked the number because of him.
3. Who is your biggest inspiration?
Lewis [Hamilton] for sure, but I would also say Chase Elliott.
4. What is your favorite racing memory?
I would definitely say winning my first race I won at Atlanta Motor Speedway when I used to do oval tracks. That was a feeling I will never forget.
5. How do you get focused before a race?
I tend to sit in the car and take a couple deep breaths. I get in a headspace where I can tell myself how to do my best no matter what.
6. What is your favorite track and why?
It is probably a fight between Dominion [Raceway] and Hallett [Motor Racing Circuit]. They are both really high-speed tracks and we all know faster and higher speed is a lot more fun.
7. When not in the race car, who is someone you cheer for while in the pits?
My friend Boston Oliver runs late models and ran in the truck series at one point. He is one of my off-track friends that I can always root for.
8. If you named your Legend Car, what would you name it?
I think the name “Desert Storm” would be cool. It goes with the overall color scheme of my car since it's a tan color and the camo pattern.
9. You’re doing a multi-hour race. Who are two drivers you are picking to share the race car with?
I would have to say Alfred Alvarez-Del Castillo and Trent Dillard.
10. If your car had a theme song for every time it drove onto the track, what would it be?
Definitely “Danger Zone” by Kenny Loggins.
11. What is a key life lesson that racing has taught you?
Patience is definitely a great thing I have learned from racing. You can apply patience to every situation, both in racing and in the real world.
12. What are some racing goals you have for yourself in future?
Really to just keep doing as best as I can right now. While I may not know exactly where I am heading since I am still growing up and everything, I know I can take it day by day and keep getting better.
