After nine weeks, the 2025 Cook Out Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway has reached its conclusion in spectacular fashion during Round 10 on Tuesday. Chaotic is always a word many could describe a typical Summer Shootout and this summer was no exception. From weather delays the first two weeks, to very hot nights, Legend Cars and Bandoleros were put through their paces this summer at America’s Home for Racing.

The familiar sight of rain opened Tuesday’s activities, forcing Booth34DieCast Qualifying for Legend Cars to be timed group sessions. By the time the five Legend Car divisions were completed, Bandoleros were able to qualify normal. But where Mother Nature often had the last word this summer, she stayed away and allowed Round 10 to be completed with no further interruptions.

Shane van Gisbergen qualified his Legend Car third for Tuesday’s finale and followed Dilling Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Electrical Pro Division championship contender Jake Bollman on the initial start of the race to claim second place. A caution for spins and barrels being knocked on the track forced the caution to be thrown on Lap 6. Like before, Gisbergen quickly followed Bollman on the restart. After nine rounds, Gisbergen had learned a lot about his Legend Car and the sense that was building that it was only a matter of time before he struck.

That time came on Lap 12 when Gisbergen put his car to the inside of Bollman’s. Now, Bollman was tasked to retake the lead, but didn’t have to in order to win the championship. A couple laps after Gisbergen took the lead Joel Smith moved into third and wasn’t a threat to Bollman. Additionally, Gisbergen and Bollman were pulling away from the rest of the field. Bollman wanted to cap off 2025 with a win, but risking the championship for the win wasn’t worth it.

Gisbergen handled his Legend Car through each set of corners smooth and precise as the laps clicked away. No further cautions disrupted his rhythm, resulting in him taking home not only his first career Legend Car victory, but his first victory on an oval in his esteemed driving career. Second place was enough to secure Bollman his second, and back-to-back, Summer Shootout Pro Division championship, 19 points clear of Danny Chisholm.

Whereas the Pro Division had only one interruption, the many of other feature races were plagued by cautions. In the VP Racing Fuels Semi-Pro Division, Sam Butler had a large enough gap to second in the points to have some breathing room, but that didn’t stop him from wanting to win. JR Allen was the fastest qualifier and led the field to green, with Butler almost immediately on his bumper giving chase. But just as it appeared Butler might be making a move, the caution flew.

Butler managed to muscle his way to the lead during the Lap 19 restart, but before he had a chance to distance himself from Allen, the caution flew on Lap 21. The restart that followed saw Allen take advantage of Butler sliding wide and ironically, just as a caution potentially stole the lead away from Butler, one saved him from losing more. Allen held off Butler one more time as the race ended two laps shy of its scheduled distance because of time and a final yellow. It marked Allen’s first career win at Charlotte Motor Speedway after nearly 20 years of trying and Butler officially became the champion over Chase Burgeson by 56 points.

With six wins to his name entering the final round of the Cook Out Summer Shootout put Brexton Busch in a very good spot in the points. He started on pole and led from the drop of the green to the checkered flag, albeit a myriad of cautions. Taegan Knowland gave Busch fits early, even pulling alongside him at one point. But his race came to an end in spectacular fashion when he was in a multiple car incident on a restart. The wreck itself eliminated several cars from competition, reducing the field size substantially. Busch then found that Gerald White III was on his bumper, and he successfully kept him behind on succeeding restarts. Later Jhett Phipps was second, but at the end of the day, Busch wasn’t going to denied a seventh victory of 2025 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, and secured himself the 2025 Bandits Championship.

Five points was the difference between Young Lions points leader Ben Morabito and second place Spencer Bradshaw. Both had been fierce competitors all summer long. Not too distant in their points mirrors was Colton Hale, who was ready to strike if anything were to happen to Morabito or Bradshaw. Like he had so many times before, Morabito was the fastest qualifier and started from pole, quickly taking command. But as quickly as it started, it slowed as a caution on Lap 2 stalled the field. Seven cautions in the first 13 laps made it difficult for the Young Lions to find a groove.

Before Bradshaw had a chance to get the lead from Morabito, it was Case James who strongarmed his way past him on the second attempt to restart the race on Lap 5. One lap later, Bradshaw was involved in an incident with TJ Moon. Both cars continued but Bradshaw was mired back in traffic and ultimately finished seventh.

Morabito wanted the lead back but James proved to be more than he could handle, or at least, risk a championship over. The race ended early after the time flag had been displayed. Two cars collided on the frontstretch, giving James the checkered and yellow flags. Morabito cleared Bradshaw by 21 points, and Colton Hale by 28.

Carson Sherman needed 17 points entering Tuesday’s finale to surpass Landon Thrasher in the Outlaws Division standings. He took Thrasher three-wide on a restart with Rylan Speight early in the race, taking the lead with authority. Thrasher hung tight on his bumper for a few laps, but Sherman slowly added distance between his rear bumper and Thrasher’s front bumper. The race went green from Lap 4 to 19 with heavy competition behind them. A two-lap shootout was set up when a single car spun in Turn 2.

But Sherman, fresh off his EchoPark Speedway Thursday Thunder Championship, wasn’t going to be deterred on the restart and drove away in the two-lap shootout. Thrasher’s second-place finish did nothing to help Sherman’s attempt to become a Summer Shootout champion. The gap at the checkered flag dropped from 17 to 15. While Thrasher got earned a Cook Out Summer Shootout Outlaws championship, Sherman reminded everyone that he will be one to beat when Charlotte Motor Speedway hosts the Bandolero Nationals in September.

A calm American Rebel Ale Masters Division Round 10 feature was the final race contested Tuesday night and it was a familiar sight up front. Kyle Busch had scored six wins in his previous seven Summer Shootout starts this summer, and maybe could have had seven if he hadn’t started from the rear. Starting from the pole, he made the case that he might have been the Masters Division Champion had he not missed a second race. A single caution was the only disruption to flow of the race dominated by Busch.

Robby Faggart entered with a very comfortable lead over Kyle Beattie. He ultimately finished seventh after starting fifth, more than enough to walk away with a championship belt. Busch parked his Legend Car for a seventh time on the frontstretch and despite missing two races, he still finished 2025 with a third place in final points.

The Chargers field was large enough to split into two feature races. Jagger Parker led early in the Chargers B Feature, but Braden Scott assumed the lead in the middle of the event. A caution paused the race with 14 laps completed. Scott maintained the lead off the restart over Josh Souza and Gerald White III. Another restart with two-to-go didn’t phase Scott, and he drove away to the victory. Following post-race technical inspection, Josh Souza was awarded the Chargers B feature victory.

In the Chargers A Feature, Parker Ives led early until a bumper was given to him on Lap 12 by Thomas Harris. It was short lived for Harris as Ives resumed control on Lap 14. Ives maintained control and capped off his first Cook Out Summer Shootout with his first Legend Car victory.

Camden Powers got redemption from last week’s disappointment and did it in style holding off Brody Zacharias on multiple restart attempts. This included Brody Zacharias trying to get to Powers’ bumper in a last-ditch effort on the final lap to nudge Powers out of the way, but he didn’t succeed.

Michael Scronce returned to Charlotte Motor Speedway victory lane with a victory in the Beginner Bandolero B Feature. He didn’t have many challenges for the lead but with two laps to go, a slow car stopped the progression of second place Max Rogers, leaving Scronce a large gap and drove to the win.

The series-long MPI Up on the Wheel steering wheel trophies were awarded to Kevin Stiene (Bandits), Joshua Shine (Outlaws), Bryson Nichols (Young Lions), Kyle Busch (Masters), Adam Brickley (Semi-Pro) and Martin Gatzulis (Pro).
