It was an eventful way to end the 2025 INEX Racing Series season. The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway lived up to its name on Saturday night. Six feature races kept crews and viewers on their toes throughout the night. When the final checkered flag had been waved, the Morabito brothers and two Californians were victorious in the championship Legend Car divisions.

Up first was Ben Morabito’s dramatic victory in the Young Lions Championship Feature. As one of three drivers entering the weekend tied at 1900 points, Morabito wasn’t going to have an easy route to a national championship, let alone the feature victory. On the very first lap, a mechanical issue struck Brody Rhodes, one of Morabito’s championship rivals. He would reenter the track but was a lap down after repairs. He would later start a slow charge forward before a crash removed him from the race.

Taylor Mayhew was the other driver tied up at 1900 points with Morabito. He led the field to green, leading the first few laps through a pair of restarts. He lost the lead to Morabito after the Lap 6 restart and was stuck on the outside. After nearly dropping out of the Top 10, Mayhew found the low line and worked to regain spots he’d lost.

After more than 10 laps of green flag competition in a row, a spin brought out the caution on Lap 22. A series of restarts followed, including a crash coming to the green that collected several cars. Another caution followed on Lap 26 and just after the restart, Mayhew dropped out of the race by pulling to the infield with a mechanical failure. Still leading the race, Morabito led the field back to green before one more restart occurred on Lap 29. Coming around to start Lap 30, Spencer Bradshaw collided with Morabito, sending the former tumbling over one time. At the same time, the time flag was displayed and the resulting caution ended the race.

Race officials determined Morabito was the winner of the race, which also granted him the provisional INEX Young Lions Asphalt National Championship.

Following in his younger brother’s tire tracks, Nick Morabito fought his way to the lead of the Semi-Pro Championship Feature early. Ashton Williams led the opening five laps, including through a restart on Lap 4, Morabito made his move for the lead on Lap 6 and Chase Burgeson, a championship contender, followed him through to take second, sending Willliams back to third. A championship rival of Burgeson’s, Josh Lowe, was not only hanging towards the front after starting eighth, he was moving forward.

Calamity struck on Lap 17 when Williams dropped oil on the track entering Turn 1, with some cars nearly missing the corner as a result before Daniel O’Donnell and Oliver Missner crashed into the outside wall. They were okay and after a lengthy cleanup, the race resumed with Morabito keeping his lead and Lowe overtaking Burgeson and the national championship advantage. It was at this juncture that Ayrton Brockhouse, another national championship contender, entered the picture when he took over third place on Lap 19, just behind Morabito and Lowe.

Lowe started to show signs he was faster than Morabito and was making a move for the lead when the caution flew on Lap 26 for spins and one car in the wall in Turn 4. Unfortunately for Scotty Benford, who was three points behind Brockhouse, Burgeson, Lowe, and Sean Salazar for the lead in national points, his day was over.

Morabito held firm through a few short green flag runs, keeping Lowe behind him, who appeared to be faster after three or four laps. But the win and national championship was decided in a one-lap shootout that saw Morabito prevail for the victory and Lowe ahead of Burgeson by 91 hundredths of a second, making him the provisional INEX Semi-Pro Asphalt National Champion.

The Masters Division Championship Feature saw California’s David Mayhew and Texas’ Scott Anderson trade the lead several times throughout the race. The national points battle was between Kevin Rollins and Bill Plemons Jr., with Plemons entering with a nine-point advantage over defending national champion Rollins.

Anderson led the first six laps before Mayhew took control on Lap 7, just before a major moment in the championship battle. Rollins and Ryan Phipps had a coming together in the first two corners of Lap 8, sending both to the rear. Plemons, who had to transfer into the race via one of the two B Mains, would restart 20th and Rollins at the tail end of the 31-car field.

Cautions littered the next 12 laps with Anderson keeping Mayhew honest with Zeke Hanger looking to mix thing up at the front. When Anderson passed Mayhew for the lead on Lap 19, Hanger was third and making a move to take over second but a caution came out before he could complete that lap. One lap after the restart, a big crash involving several cars, requiring several tows ended a few drivers’ days. Plemons was involved in the wreck but continued and Rollins was able to sneak by. After the race went back green, Mayhew was able to complete the pass against Anderson to retake the lead.

A final caution that led to a single-file restart gave Anderson one final opportunity as the time flag was displayed. It also was one final opportunity for Rollins and Plemons to gain as many positions as they could. Ultimately, the race ended under yellow, granting Mayhew the championship feature victory and for Kevin Rollins, he provisionally has defended his INEX Masters Division Championship title by a single point by virtue of his fifth-place finish compared to Plemons’ 10th-place result.

Starting under the lights, Georgia’s Nick Woodall led the field of Pros to green on Lap 1 and again for a Lap 2 restart after a quick yellow flag to start the race. California’s own Brenden Ruzbarsky snatched the lead away from Woodall on Lap 3, and didn’t look back, leading the next 33 circuits. He received challenges from those behind him, including Woodall and Mike Alcaro. The Pro Championship Feature included four caution periods, three of which Ruzbarsky was leading at the time of caution. He successfully held control of the race each time.

One of the caution periods caused many in the national points hunt to hold their breath. As national points leader, Jacob Burns, traveled through turn 4 and approaching Lap 18, he spun in front of the field while running towards the Top 5. The crash collected several cars, including Jensen Jorgensen, who trailed Burns by only three points entering the weekend. Both cars were taken to the hot pit and Burns was able to reenter before the restart. Jorgensen would later reenter the race track under the next caution but was 10 laps down. Crucially, he gained a few positions simply by completing a single lap, gifting him a few additional points.

While Ruzbarsky led during this time, a spirited battle behind him took place for much of the Top 10. Woodall, Alcaro, Jacob Staten, Joel Smith, and Danny Chisholm battled hard. For Chisholm, he suffered a flat tire on Lap 11, but didn’t lose a lap during the caution and had charged his way back up to the front. Smith on the other hand, arrived in Las Vegas third in national points, 30 points behind Burns. His chances of a national championship required help by virtue of misfortunes for Burns and Jorgensen.

As the laps clicked away at the end, Smith found himself hanging on to fifth ahead of Chisholm as Ruzbarsky captured the feature win. Little did Smith know at the time that that fifth place was going to be the most important fifth-place finish of his life. Following a post-race disqualification for Burns, who originally finished 12th, that elevated Jorgensen to a 22nd-place finish. The updated results put Smith and Jorgensen tied up at 1949 points each. A tie in the points standings is broken by a drivers result in the championship feature of Legend Car Asphalt Nationals. In this case, Smith gets the nod as the provisional INEX Pro Asphalt Champion for 2025.

NOTE: INEX Racing Series points for the 2025 season are not official until November 14.

A newcomer to the Legend Car, Simon Kline found his way to victory after he broke away from the field with William Howells and Lincoln Johnson. The three battled up front for most of the 25-lap feature, with Howells leading 18 of the first 19 laps. Kline found his way to the lead on Lap 20 and successfully held off Howells and Johnson for the feature victory.

Sixteen Bandoleros also arrived Saturday to race at The Bullring for a 20-lap feature event. Hailing from Wisconsin were the Johnson brothers, who were up front for all 20 laps. Harley Johnson led flag-to-flag with Lincoln in tow, followed by Bandolero driver from Ontario, Josh Davenport, who held off Chase Bohanon during a late-race restart for a third-place finish.

For both Morabitos, Mayhew, and Ruzbarsky, each of their victories were their first in Legend Car Asphalt Nationals, with all being well earned.

After Saturday’s wild slate of racing, the 2025 INEX Racing Series season has officially come to an end. Replays of the 2025 INEX Legend Car Asphalt Nationals and all national events for the season can be viewed on U.S. Legend Cars TV, and results for all national and regional events can be found on MyRacePass. Road course racing kicks off the 2026 season at Las Vegas Motor Speedway with the Silver State Road Course Series, December 5-7, 2025.
