Rule Specifications:

The rules for the installation of ballast are defined in the current rulebook. The two main things an inspector will look at when checking lead are, installation (placement) and size. INEX mandates specific areas that lead can be installed on a Bandolero (see diagram in the current rulebook), these are the only places that ballast can be installed. INEX also mandates the sizes of lead sticks that can be used (these are listed in the current rulebook). Another thing an inspector will check will be the bolts being used to hold the lead in place. INEX requires two 3/8” bolts in each stack. Competitors can stack the 3/4” thick sticks of lead or the 1 1/2" thick sticks of lead, as long as the stack is not taller than 3” from the square tube.

Penalties for Violation of this Rule:

If an inspector finds a car that has the ballast installed improperly, the inspector will disqualify the driver.

If an inspector finds a car that has ballast installed in an un-safe manor, the inspector will require that the lead be secured properly prior to going onto the racetrack.
