Swanson Wins The Apple Cup
Columbia River Legends had 29 drivers participate in the season opening Apple Cup at Yakima Speedway. The two day show held in Central Washington was the perfect setting for racers from the Northwest to participate in. In Saturday Qualifying Duane Swanson took the pole position, Randy Schaaf won the three lap Trophy Dash. Three (3) ten lap Qualifying Heats followed to set the field for the Sunday feature. Unusually warm temperature in the upper 80's made for slippery track conditions for the weekend's events. Saturday's races were followed by a potluck dinner with 50 racers and friends of the CRL Racing Family in attendance. The Sunday 40 lap main event had only two cautions, Duane Swanson went on to win the feature and collect $500 for the victory, Tristan Haider was second, and Jake Woods came in third. Columbia River Legends next race is April 23rd & 24th at Wenatchee Valley Super Oval.
